Our Environment Group catered for the grand opening of this facility in Spring Valley Road, Flowerdale. Many locals remember this site as the home of the temporary village after Black Saturday. The shed that was part of the village is now open and ready to form a focal point for men of the district. We hope the shed will contribute to the general wellbeing and mental health of our men through networking and activities that help break the isolation men sometimes experience, especially after traumatic life experiences and in living with depression.

Around 77 people attended this function and a great lunch was provided through the efforts of Michael and Susan, Bec, Ellen, Michelle, Trent and Vikki, Paul and Don, Linda, Steve and Heather. Thanks to all these people, mostly members of our fledgling environment group, for your enthusiastic effort and dedication. The positive buzz at the event was greatly assisted through your work in keeping the people fed and in cleaning up during and after the festivities. Together with the effort of John, Joe and Steve Junghenn of the Men’s Shed Committee, this was a very successful community event.

After costs, we look like having made around $600 for the King Parrot Creek Environment Group, as well as lifting the profile of the Group in our region. We also retain some stock for our next function which is in the planning process at the moment.IMG_5291IMG_5287
